Maritime transport is the means that has been used the most throughout history for the transport of goods and people. Today it is still an indispensable means of transport that requires professionals who know all its technical aspects.

The Degree in Marine will train you for the development of activities related to the design, maintenance and operation of any industrial facility, both in the marine and land areas. In the last course you will have to do 3 months of compulsory boarding practices or 600 hours in companies on land.

 In addition, you can specialize by studying the following itineraries or mentions: Energy and Propulsion, and Industrial Maintenance.

Once you obtain a Marine Degree, you must obtain the title of Merchant Marine Engineer Officer to navigate. And to access the profession of Chief Engineer of the Merchant Navy you will have to complete the Master in Marine Engineering.

To obtain the professional titles of the Merchant Marine you must comply with the medical examination of the Social Institute of the Navy, mandatory to carry out the practices and to provide professional services on board merchant ships.

-Direct debit form of the tuition payment
-Document accrediting the right to reduction or exemption from public tuition prices, in accordance with the corresponding order approved by the Basque Government, which sets the prices to be paid for the provision of university academic services (disabled people, families numerous, victims of terrorist acts, gender violence or others, with the conditions established by the Public Price Order for each case).


-Scholarship application form or application receipt, if requested.

Learning outcomes

These are the main skills for which this qualification will train you:

1. Analyze and assess the social and environmental impact of technical solutions, as well as the prevention of occupational risks in the maritime and land areas, maintaining a commitment to the environment.
2. Communication skills. Organized exposition of ideas orally and in writing so that it is carried out with respect for fundamental rights and equality between men and women, as well as the promotion of human rights and the values ​​proper to a culture of peace and democracy.
3. Know the basic and technological subjects that enable you to learn new methods and theories, as well as provide you with great versatility to adapt to new situations.
4. Direct, manage and organize the activities necessary for the proper functioning of the ship's Energy and Propulsion facilities, as well as aspects related to Industrial Land Maintenance. Ability to formulate and manage projects.
5. Handle mandatory specifications, manuals, regulations and standards with ease.
6. Possess knowledge in the organization of companies. Know how to organize, plan and manage departments with human and material resources.
7. Carry out inspections, measurements, evaluations, appraisals, surveys, studies, reports, work plans and certifications in facilities within the scope of their specialty within the maritime and terrestrial framework.
8. Solve problems with: initiative, decision making, creativity, critical reasoning, in addition to communicating and transmitting knowledge, abilities and skills.
9. Be able to practice as a Merchant Marine Machine Officer or as a Marine Engineer in any land-based industrial facility, once the requirements of the corresponding Administrations have been exceeded.
10. Be able to work in a group, in a multilingual and multidisciplinary environment, respecting fundamental rights and equality between men and women, as well as guaranteeing universal accessibility. Be able to generate reports for the transmission of knowledge and results. Ability to learn and update permanently.
