A good cooperation on board ships, but also between shore organization and ship, is crucial for the safety of the ship and the crew. This BRM - ERM course is therefore not only intended for seafarers, but can also be an inspiration for representatives of the shore organization.
The following topics are covered in the course:
- managing and leading a bridge / engine room team
- manage and cooperate within a bridge / engine room team
- cooperation of bridge and engine room team
- task and workload distribution
- dealing with standard, (un) ordinary and / or emergency situations
- respond to successive events
- interpretation and observation of situations
- decision making on board under pressure and with regard to the shipping company
- practical use of operational and special procedures as well as safety regulations
- communication
- cultural differences
During the course, a bridge and engine room simulator is used.
Prerequisites
To be eligible for certification the participants must be in the possession of a diploma mate, engineer or marof or be in training for one of the aforementioned diplomas.
Participants who do not have the above qualifications or whom are studying for this, will receive a certificate of participation

Learning outcomes
The development of knowledge and skills to strengthen team spirit among the crew with the focus on increasing and ensuring safety to prevent accidents.
Upon successful completion of the course, the participant will receive an internationally recognized BRM or ERM certificate according to:
- Table A-II/1 for Bridge Resource Management
- Table A-III/1 for Engine room Resource management
- Table A-II/2 and A-III/2 for Use of Leadership and Managerial Skills
- Table A-II/1, A-III/1 and A-III/6 for Application of Leadership and Teamworking Skills
of the STCW Manila Amendments
Participants who do not have the above qualifications or whom are studying for this, will receive a certificate of participation
