Maritime on the loop of Ocean Literacy (MOL2)

General information

This pilot experience aims to do a hands-on training on 3D laser scanning and photogrammetry, for last-year’s high school students.

For each class, 5 hours in two days have been planned to offer introduction to engineering and shipbuilding techniques.   This will include structure measurement systems, overview of 3D laser scanner and  introduction to the of photogrammetry potential.

Scans and photographic survey of a part of the classroom in which the lesson will take place and of an object, will let appreciate the potentialities of the 3D laser scanner system.

Foundation subjects for those workshops are the following :

  • 3D scanner and dedicated software
  • Open sources photogrammetry software and one camera
  • One or two computers
  • Projector
