General information

Workshop on Shipment and traceability of living organisms: the need for a common strategy to facilitate the use of marine biological resources

The European Marine Biological Research Infrastructure Cluster (EMBRIC), would like to invite you to participate in a 2-day workshop on “shipment and traceability of living organisms” dedicated to standardization of methods for transport of live organisms, identification of bottlenecks for shipment and quality control measures. A key role of biological research infrastructures is the remote provision of live organisms for which increased demand is anticipated. However, there is a need to consider measures that facilitate movement of organisms without compromising welfare and safety, or promoting the spread of diseases and pathogens, and considering potential benefit sharing issues. The workshop invites stakeholders (providers, users, carriers, ...) from academia, industry and policy to discuss how provision of live marine organisms can be improved by considering the procedures and implication for their shipment, transport, delivery and tracing. You are invited to propose 15-20 minutes contributions and participate in the discussions.
