With a degree in Coastal Environmental Science, you'll understand both terrestrial and marine environmental processes. That knowledge will help you grasp complex issues in coastal habitats.

What You’ll Study

You'll begin by establishing a strong foundation in math, biology, chemistry, and physics. Then, you'll take courses from a wide variety of environmental disciplines:

  • Ecology
  • Marine biology
  • Oceanography
  • Science communication
  • Coastal processes
  • Science methodology

Finally, you'll undertake and complete authentic scientific research during a capstone research course usually taken during your senior year.

Practical Experience

From day one, you're encouraged to get hands-on experience in both field and lab studies.

You'll assist professors in research projects that lead to scientific presentations and publications. Our faculty involve you in every step of the process. This undergraduate research experience will set you apart from students at other institutions. It will also provide you with marketable skills after graduation.

Our faculty are dedicated to your success in the classroom. Outside the classroom, you'll collaborate with faculty on undergraduate research projects. The combination of classroom and research experience will propel you onto the next chapter in your life.
