Admission RequirementsTo be graduated from Geological and Geophysical Engineering departments of Universities\r\nTaked minimum necessary note from the sum of the rates of GPA, ALES or equivalent exam, foreign language exam and interview exam that designated for the candidates acceptance by the Senate.

Recognition of Prior Learning

The transfer student candidates from Turkish or foreign universities are subject to the YOK Legislation "The transfer, double degree, minor degree and inter-institutional credit transfer" and to the evaluation conditions determined by İstanbul University Senate. The transfer quotas are determined and announced by Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK). The evaluation of the candidates are done by the school evaluation commmisin and approved by the management

Goals and Objectives

The aim of the program is to train highly qualified and morally qualified people who are highly qualified in scientific geophysics and have qualified scientist candidates and researchers, who have developed academic high scientific thinking, respectful to their environment, flexible and fast to develop, able to decide quickly and confidently. The objectives of the program are to be a pioneering Marine Geology and Geophysics Department working in the field of marine geology and geophysics, responding to the needs of the society and the industry, with universal values, nationally and internationally qualified teaching and research. Our other goal is to increase the work on marine science in Turkey.

Knowledge

Moving forward undergraduate level education in geology and geophysics the undergraduate level education in geology and geophysics, scientific thinking has developed a high academic level, the doubt, respectful environment, all the developments in open, flexible and capable of rapid decisionmaking and self-confident, well-behaved, virtuous, to develop highly qualified people.

Skills

Student will have knowledge of basic and general information about science. Student gains the ability detecting and defining the problem. The student gains the ability to synthesize and analyze the problem. Skills can assess and use new information systematically. It can develop a new idea, method, design or application that brings innovation to the skill field. Skill can apply a known idea, method, design or application to a different field. Skill is capable of researching, grasping, designing, adapting and practicing an original subject. Skills can make critical analysis, synthesis and evaluation of new and complex ideas. Attitude can broaden the boundaries of knowledge in the field by publishing at least one scientific article related to the field in ational or international fancy magazines or by producing or interpreting a unique work. It can develop new ideas and methods related to the field by using high level mental processes such as attitude creativity and critical thinking, problem solving and decision making. Attitude is the ability to make leadership in environments that require solving unique and interdisciplinary problems. Attitude can be effectively communicated to the experts and to the defense of original opinions in the discussion of the issues in their field and to the competence of their field. By introducing scientific, technological, social or cultural advances in the field of attitudes, the society in which they live can contribute to the process of being an information society and sustaining it.

Competencies

The student will have basic and general information about the field, identify and describe the problematic issues. The student is able to read, write, analyze and translate texts about Marine Geology and Geophysics. The student gains ability to critical thinking, initiative and skills to use it in a constructive way to express. The student, gains ability to present oral and written study based on research and can defense it. Students learns how to understand the information and interpret it. The student can use and apply the information in Marine Geology and Geophysics research and can make synchronic, historical and diachronic comparison.
