This programme focuses on the crucial aspects associated with development and operation of ocean energy and hydropower systems for electrical power generation and desalination. A student on the programme will undertake modules comprising fundamental and advanced topics relating to ocean energy and hydropower, such as hydrodynamics, resource characterisation and assessment, environmental considerations, device design, modelling and simulation etc. This programme places a particular emphasis on energy policy and some of the important aspects of integrating ocean energy and hydropower systems to existing power systems. Further, the programme emphasises the uses of Academia and Industry standard software IDEs and report generating tools.
