The Basic Safety Training (BST) covers working safely at height. The Basic Safety Training helps you act safely and take the right preventive actions in all aspects in an (offshore) wind energy sector. You can follow this training at partner organization De Ruyter Training & Consultancy in Vlissingen. The training lasts six days and is registered in the GWO database WINDA.

The great thing about these training courses is that you receive an internationally recognized certificate from the Global Wind Organization and can therefore work anywhere in the world in the wind sector.

Prerequisites

Intended for anyone who works on board ships subject to the STCW regime and the Seafarers Act.
Minimum age: 17 years and 9 months

The student must be in possession of:

a valid medical certificate for maritime shipping
good health and physically able to participate in the practical exercises (use breathing apparatus, confined spaces and heat loads, swimming)

Learning outcomes

The course consists of four parts (both theory and practice), namely:

  • personal survival techniques at sea
  • fire prevention and fire fighting
  • life-saving actions and safe working
  • personal safety and social responsibility
