This Oil and Gas Engineering course produces fit-for-purpose engineers who can make effective contribution from an early stage. Developed in close collaboration with industry, it enables you to develop a critical approach to oil and gas engineering and develop a strong project management and team-work abilities.
The course is aimed at students who wish to work in the oil and gas industry and specialise in offshore operations. It will prepare you for a range of professional careers through suitable flexible study options. It has been developed in close collaboration with industry which ensures the specialist subject areas relevant to the oil and gas life-cycle covered are up-to-date, and provide the essential knowledge and skills required for an engineering career within the upstream oil and gas industry.
STAGE 1
In Stage 1, you will study topics such as Subsurface, Wells, Facilities and Business Essentials. On completion, you could exit this stage with a Pg Cert Oil and Gas Engineering.
STAGE 2
In Stage 2 you will study; Engineering Project Management, Environmental Impact and Risk Management, Materials & Corrosion, and Completions & Subsea Systems. On completion you could exit this stage with Pg Dip Oil and Gas Engineering.
STAGE 3
Stage 3 is the final stage, where you will focus on the Individual Project Report. Successful completion will award the MSc Oil and Gas Engineering.

Prerequisites
- Applicants normally hold a 2:2 undergraduate honours degree or its equivalent in Engineering or a relevant discipline such as Geology, Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics.

Applicants with a lower degree classification and / or relevant work experience will be considered on a case by case basis.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
Applicants whose first language is not English should have an IELTS of 6.5 overall, with no component lower than 5.5, or an equivalent.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
International students who do not meet our direct entry requirements for this course can gain additional entry points through our International College at Robert Gordon University.
Our Pre-Sessional English Programme (PSP) is available for students who have not yet reached the required English level and those who would like to improve their language competency.
