This Subsea Engineering degree is designed for Engineers with some relevant offshore oil and gas experience, and high-calibre graduates who wish to enhance their employability in the subsea industry.

The course has been designed and is supported by industry to enable us to provide you with up-to-date content in subsea systems and specialist modules including, drilling and completion technology, topside processing facilities, SURF (Subsea Umbilicals, Risers and Flowlines), control systems, intervention, corrosion management, project execution and reliability. The course will provide you with an understanding of the current and emerging technologies, design limitations and possible solutions to subsea challenges.

STAGE 1

In Stage 1, you will study topics such as Oceans and Operability, Wells, Facilities and Subsea Systems. On completion, you could exit this stage with a Pg Cert in Subsea Engineering.

STAGE 2

In Stage 2 you will study; Subsea Pipeline & Riser Design, Subsea Systems Reliability & Risks, Subsea Control Systems and Materials & Corrosion. On completion you could exit this stage with Pg Dip Subsea Engineering.

STAGE 3

Stage 3 is the final stage, where you will focus on the Individual Project Report. Successful completion will award the MSc Subsea Engineering.

Prerequisites

  • Applicants normally hold a 2:2 undergraduate honours degree or its equivalent in Engineering or a relevant discipline such as Geology, Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics.
  • Applicants with a lower degree classification and / or relevant work experience will be considered on a case by case basis.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Applicants whose first language is not English should have an IELTS of 6.5 overall, with no component lower than 5.5, or an equivalent.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS 

International students who do not meet our direct entry requirements for this course can gain additional entry points through our International College at Robert Gordon University.

Our Pre-Sessional English Programme (PSP) is available for students who have not yet reached the required English level and those who would like to improve their language competency.
