Challenge Yourself in a Natural Laboratory

The Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology takes full advantage of our location on the shores of the Alexander Archipelago within the world’s largest temperate rainforest. This natural laboratory provides students with access to the ocean, freshwater lakes and streams, the intertidal habitat, rainforest, wetlands, and icefields.

Hands-on Experiences

Marine biology students learn biological principles and skills in lecture, laboratory, and field courses, with an emphasis on ongoing research projects. This program is designed for students interested in pursuing graduate study or careers in a biological or related field. Students can take these skills and apply them to real life by working on research with faculty including projects on sea otters, humpback whales, crabs, salmon, algae, and more. Study sites range from the intertidal zone to Glacier Bay to the Bering Sea.
