The philosophy is to train manpower for management capacities in maritime and other allied fields such as the oil and gas, marine insurance, maritime law, import/export practice, banking, etc. The school has expanded her scope to provide training in General Logistics and Transport through the Professional Programmes of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding of Nigeria.

Prerequisites

Applicants for MARITIME TRANSPORT AND BUSINESS MANAGEMENT must:

1. Possess the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least FIVE CREDIT passes in subjects which must include Mathematics, English Language, Economics, and any two of Commerce, Government, Financial Accounting and Business Management, obtained in NOT MORE THAN TWO SITTINGS.

2. Possess a National Diploma in Maritime Transport and Business Studies with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or other accredited institution listed with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Note, candidates must have JAMB Registration number.

3. Have completed a minimum of one year post-ND Industrial Training with evidence or acquired a minimum of one year cognate work experience in a relevant organization.

4. Candidates with PASS at National Diploma level from Maritime Academy of Nigeria or other accredited institution must have completed a minimum of two years post-ND Industrial Training with evidence or acquired a minimum of two years cognate work experience in a relevant organisation.
