Objectives and Content
The subject gives an introduction to marine community ecology, emphasising benthic communities (e.g. interactions between marine plants and/or animals), organisms (ranging from protists to marine mammals) and habitats. The organisms will be described on the basis of their ecological adaptations, and examples from different geographical and bathymetrical areas will be given.
Prerequisites
Compulsory courses in Bachelor in Biology/Sustainable Aquaculture.
Learning outcomes
The purpose of the subject is to give students a thorough understanding of marine biodiversity, including species compositition and the functional and structural relationships in different communities. The course represents a common platform for all students choosing the study programme marine biodiversity.
