Ship mechanical specialty is one of the profile areas of training of naval specialists. The existence and further development of the specialty is due to the constant shortage on the world market of highly qualified marine engineers. The need and expediency of further training of specialists in this specialty is due to the current development needs not only of Ukraine but also of a number of foreign countries. The current system of maritime education, which is implemented by maritime schools, is closely linked to the maritime and river fleet, which provides its need for training, retraining and advanced training of maritime transport professionals. Only the appropriate level of training, creating a systematic approach to the improvement and effectiveness of teaching.
The specialist with this "Bachelor" can work on vessels of the specialized merchant and industrial fleet for service and maintenance of uninterrupted work of ship power installations and the power equipment. The functional responsibilities of a bachelor of ship energy cover a wide range of technical, production and research activities - from maintenance of ship power plants, preparation of feasibility studies and specifications. The positions that a bachelor can hold are determined by the "Unified State Classification of Occupations of All Categories of Workers on the Basis of International Standards."
The purpose of education in specialization 217 "Operation of ship power plants" is to train professionals capable of solving practical and scientific problems in the maritime field.
