Environmental Engineering looks at the existing environmental problems in society, namely those caused by the implementation of solutions given by other areas of Engineering. In a world where sustainability is on the agenda, the role of environmental engineers involves understanding what tools to use in order to lower the environmental impact and the ecological footprint of human activities while maintaining the efficiency of related processes. Thus, this field of Engineering operates in pollution planning and control, waste, effluent and gaseous pollutant treatment and environmental system management, while optimizing soil and land use.

Resultados del aprendizaje

The Environmental Engineering Degree has as its main objective to give students a solid training in environmental sciences, with support in the basic sciences of mathematics, chemistry and biology, allowing them to understand the important subjects for a graduate in Environmental Engineering, namely soil, water, energy and climate, ecology and biodiversity, territory, societal challenges and risks, and also reinforce the computational skills for modeling environmental problems.
Environmental Engineering is a transversal activity and the degree favors interdisciplinarity and training for the analysis of environmental problems in an integrated perspective (ecological, social, economic and technological), necessary to obtain a balanced and sustainable development.
